Orthodontics for Children and Teens
It's best for the orthodontist to see children by age 7 to advise if orthodontic treatment is required and the best time for that patient to be treated. The first permanent molars and incisors have usually come in by that time and crossbites, crowding and other problems can be evaluated.
If treatment is begun early, the orthodontist can guide the growth of the jaw and guide incoming permanent teeth. Although early treatment can simplify later treatment, the majority of our patients begin treatment at age 11 to 14 when most of their permanent teeth have erupted. Monitoring children by us at no fee recall appointments gives us the opportunity to inform patients and parents of the optimal time for treatment in the future.
Orthodontics for Adults
Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age, and adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile. One of every five patients in orthodontic treatment is over 21.
Some adults have other dental issues that may also need addressed. Orthodontic treatment can improve the outcome for crowns, bridges and implants done by your Dentist. Periodontal treatment (gum disease and bone loss) and oral surgery to reset your jaw can be done in conjunction with orthodontic treatment. An interdisciplinary approach is used with Dr, Hannah helping to coordinate your overall treatment plan with your Dentist and other Dental Specialists.
Many adults have minor dental alignment needs that can be treated with Invisalign and or retainers. Dr. Hannah and his staff enjoy working with many motivated adult patients.
